Your kit

Please make sure your bike is in good working order and perfect technical condition before you set off on your ride. Safety-approved cycling helmets are compulsory, we recommend cycle helmets complying with ANSI Z90/4 or SNELL standards. Cycling shoes, shorts and jerseys are also recommended.

Look the part in our custom designed Tour de Bristol jersey, we've partnered with Italian cycling company Ale to bring you a jersey that's stylish as well as comfortable with a brand new design for this year's ride. Online sales for the jerseys have now closed, but we will be selling them on the day at the event. If you have pre-ordered a jersey, it will be available to collect on the day.

  • An energy bar or similar snack
  • Tools to replace inner tubes and minor problems
  • Suitable wet weather clothing
  • Fully charged mobile phone
  • Hand sanitiser and face mask
  • ID and a small amount of money
  • Route map and rider number

Please note there is only limited parking at UWE. Cycle, liftshare or get dropped off where you can, or park in nearby residential areas.

Being COVID-secure

We will be adapting the ride to fit with government  and local guidelines at the time of the ride, and all participants will be kept informed of what will be required.

Here’s a bit more about how we plan to make it COVID secure:

  • Start times will be staggered with participants choosing a half hour period to arrive to the start line in. You'll start the ride in small groups at a time.
  • Feed stations will have individually wrapped refreshments
  • There is the option of joining the Tour de Bristol: Your Ride and taking part remotely, creating your own route from home wherever you are across the UK and we'll be cheering you on all the way
  • Facemasks are encouraged indoors, and we will keep the ride outdoors as much as possible.
  • We will have extra cleaning and hygiene procedures in place including wiping down portaloos and high contact areas, and hand sanitiser available
  • Rider numbers will be posted in advance so there will be no need to queue on the day.
