Meet the Fundraising Team

Our Fundraising Team are passionate about raising income to support our patients and their families. If you're supporting the Hospice through attending one of our events, donating, playing our lottery or taking on a challenge, they are here to help you every step of the way.

Sarah Allen-Gunn - Director of Fundraising & Communications

Sarah Allen-Gunn

As the Director of the team I get to work with all the fab members of the Fundraising, Marketing & Communications gang to highlight the work of the Hospice and generate funds to keep it running. I've been here since 2017 and find it the most inspiring place to work, thanks to the incredible local families we work with and the fantastic team here at St Peter's who make it happen.

Outside of work I'm usually found running round after my young family but when time allows I love to head back to my homeland of Cornwall for glorious sea swims and cliff top walks.

Wendy McDermott - Head of Fundraising

Wendy McDermott

As Head of Fundraising at St Peter's Hospice, I am proud to be working with a brilliant team of dedicated fundraisers and volunteers.

St Peter's Hospice is a charity close to my heart and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to bring my fundraising experience to work with the team to raise funds, so that the Hospice can continue to provide care and support for patients and their families in our community.

At the weekends, I enjoy getting outdoors with family and friends, whether running or swimming, and enjoying a coffee and cake afterwards.

Katie Turton - Senior Fundraising Manager

Katie Turton

Hi I'm Katie, the Senior Fundraising Manager on the team and very proud to be working with the wonderful team of fundraisers who put so much passion and energy into raising funds for the Hospice. I've worked in the fundraising sector for over 15 years but being a Bristolian myself, I feel extremely fortunate to now be working for a charity that I've supported and considered a household-name since being a young child.

Spending time outdoors and holidaying with family and friends is my favourite way to spend my free time. (But the geek in me also loves a jigsaw with a G&T thrown in for good measure!)

Becky Mitchell - Individual Giving and Legacy Manager

Becky Mitchell

Hiya! My name's Becky and I started working for the Hospice after I left university in 2009. I've had a few roles over this time, but I've been the Individual Giving and Legacy Manager for two years now. I love seeing the response from our fundraising appeals and newsletters and am always blown away by the incredible support we receive from our community.

In my spare time I love cooking for family and friends, reading and keeping fit, but you'll mostly find me running around after my toddler!

Hayley Ali - Events Fundraiser

Hayley Ali

Hello! I'm the Events Fundraiser, so I organise our events like the Tour de Bristol, Midnight Walk and Walk to Remember. I've been at the Hospice since 2019 and love how every day is different, working on a real variety of different events, meeting and cheering on our wonderful fundraisers, and exploring new routes around Bristol. My real loves are to travel, hike and especially to go camping!

Kevin McGough - Database Manager

Kevin McGough

I have been with the St Peter's Hospice family since 2011, three years of which have been as the Database Manager. I manage the team, oversee our compliance with various areas of data regulation, provide insight and manage our Gift Aid processing, amongst other things. Outside of work I love a quiz and any sports.

Erin Freeman - Database Assistant

Erin Freeman

Hi, I'm Erin, the Database Assistant. I started working at St Peter's in 2022, and have learnt so much about the incredible services they provide and all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make it happen. It is so inspiring being part of such a dedicated group of people.

When I'm not at work I enjoy making things of all sorts – I love to bake, draw, paint and my favourite thing is to crochet! I love to crochet and knit my own clothes, bags, toys and random things for the house!

Helen Walford - Database Administrator

Helen Walford

Hello I'm Helen! I joined the Database team at the Hospice in 2022 and I'm really enjoying it, learning lots every day and working with a lovely team. The best part about my job is knowing that I'm working for such an amazing charity that supports so many families. In my spare time I enjoy meeting up with my family and friends for a nice glass of wine, walking on the Mendips and going on holiday!

Sophie Cullinane - Community Fundraising Manager

Sophie Cullinane

I'm Sophie the Community Fundraising Manager. I've been in the fundraising sector for 6 years having worked in London, and now I'm proud to say I work for St Peter's in Bristol. I support groups and individuals who fundraise for the Hospice to help them reach their full fundraising potential. The most enjoyable part of my job is that I get to meet so many amazing people who are so generous, kind and passionate about our cause. Outside of work I like spending time outdoors, getting friends together for a Sunday roast and a gritty crime series.

Nick Wilson - Community Fundraiser

Nick Wilson

Hello! I’m Nick, the other half of the Community Fundraising team. We build relationships with individuals and community groups in Bristol and support them with their fundraising. Before this, I was a teacher in Spain, and my favourite part of the job has to be going and meeting the people who keep the Hospice going!

Rosalind Fursland - Trusts and Philanthropy Officer

Rosalind Fursland

I'm the Trusts and Philanthropy Officer at the Hospice, and started working here in 2020. I really enjoy saying thank you to our wonderful supporters and hearing about how the Hospice has been there for our community. One of the best parts of my job is the rewarding feeling when a funding application is successful!

In my spare time I like writing and also enjoy sunshine, travelling around the world and cuddling cats.

Emma Matthews - Lottery Manager

Emma Matthews

Hi I'm Emma! I joined St Peter's Hospice at the end of 2022 as the Lottery Manager. I have been in the fundraising sector for over 12 years. I am a born and bred Bristolian and am so proud to now be part of the Hospice team.

Outside of work, I spend my time trying to brush up on my dinosaur knowledge (to try and keep up with my 6-year-old!), I also love a bit of colouring (and a lot of reality TV!)

Kate Mills - Lottery Administrator

Kate Mills

Hi there, I'm Kate and I joined the St Peter's Hospice team in early 2023 as the Lottery Administrator. I've been doing various roles in the charity sector for nearly 20 years and I'm thrilled to be working for such a beloved Bristol institution.

When I'm not busily processing lottery plays, I can usually be found on a dog walk in Portishead, accompanied by our Jack Russell, Poppy. Aside from finding new stomping grounds, I also enjoy a bit of wombling (litter-picking), football (watching rather than playing) and getting stuck into a new boxset.

Jess Barke - Fundraising Administrator

Jess Barke

I'm Jess and I'm the Fundraising Administrator here at the Hospice. I am new to the role but am learning the ropes and loving every second of it. The best thing about my role is that I work with all sections of the Fundraising Team, meaning I see all the ways people are raising money for the Hospice – it is truly inspirational! Before working in fundraising, I was a pastry chef for several years and am no stranger to a macaron, brownie, or Victoria Sponge!

Outside of work, I love exploring the outdoors whether that's climbing up rocks, hiking up hills, or swimming in rivers. I also love being crafty and particularly enjoy sewing, knitting, and embroidery. Don't let the list of activities fool you, though, I am very partial to a cosy afternoon with a cup of tea, a homemade cookie, and a good book, film, or game.
