Our Learning and Development team is made up of a talented group of teachers and Learning and Development professionals who are passionate about palliative care, education and workforce development. They have a wealth of experience to meet the needs of individuals and teams from a wide variety of health and social care and corporate settings.
Though only qualifying as a registered nurse in 2008, Rebecca has worked in health and social care all of her career, over 30 years. She has worked with older people, people living with dementia and people at the end of life, in care homes, residential settings and day services, completing various NVQs and supporting staff as an NVQ assessor.
As a nurse Rebecca has predominantly specialised in caring for people in community settings, seeing her achieve the title of Queen's Nurse. Much of her work has centred around palliative and end of life care, as a District Nurse, completing her Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Specialist Community practice and from there, working with community primary care and palliative care and end of life care, as an advance care planning nurse, community palliative Clinical Nurse Specialist, and end of life educator, in the NHS and charity sector.
Most recently, she combined her Lead Specialist Palliative Care nurse and palliative and end of life education roles, supporting 3 specialist inpatient teams, a team in primary care and leading end of life care education throughout an NHS health board, seeing her achieve a Leadership and Management Qualification and completing a Master of Science in Professional Practice during this time, focused on education, palliative and end of life care and leading change. Her passion for sharing her knowledge and experience, with the aim of supporting the provision of contemporary palliative and end of life care and support for all, led her to join St Peter's as the Lead Educator.
Nicky qualified as a Registered Nurse over 30 years ago, initially specialising in caring for people with infectious diseases. Her interest in palliative and end of life care led her to St Peter’s Hospice in 1995. Nicky’s roles have included supporting patients and families in both an in-patient setting and as a palliative care nurse specialist in the community. She has worked as an End of Life Educator with our Education team for the last 14 years, qualifying as a teacher and achieving a Masters in Lifelong Learning along the way. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge with the aim of improving end of life care and support for all.
Kathryn has over 30 years’ experience of working in healthcare settings. She has been a Registered Nurse since 2002 and in 2010 she completed her Bsc (Hons) in Specialist Community practice. She spent 16 years in community nursing, first as a District Nurse Team Leader and later as an Advanced Practitioner, before she joined our Education team in May 2019. Kathryn completed her PGCE in 2021.
Suzanne has over 10 years' experience in learning and development, having worked in some large corporate companies before joining our Learning and Development team at St Peter's Hospice in November 2021. She has an interest in blended learning, the future of learning and development and psychometrics. Suzanne has completed several learning and development professional qualifications including TAP and NVQs.
Zoe joined our Learning and Development team in 2014. Volunteering with our commercial team and in one of our shops had given her the chance to learn more about St Peter’s and, having gained first-hand experience of working with us, she decided to apply for a job in the Education team. Zoe brings with her previous administrative experience and a BA (Hons) in Business Management and Strategy.
