Home for Christmas Appeal

For some patients, being at home means the world

Karin, one of our Hospice at Home nurses, introduces the St Peter's Hospice 2022 Christmas Appeal

Can you believe Christmas is just around the corner? This year seems to have flown by!

I must admit, I love the festive period and spending it at home with loved ones. As a St Peter's Hospice at Home Nurse, however, I've spent my fair share of Christmas Days in patients' homes. I can see just how much it means to them to be home, with their nearest and dearest around them. Especially when for many, it will be their final Christmas.

Recently it's become harder for our teams to help our patients stay at home for as long as possible. The effects of the pandemic are still being felt, and the cost-of-living crisis is really taking hold, alongside the rising costs of providing care. We've noticed an increased need for our services in our local communities, particularly by patients wishing to be cared for at home.

More people need our support

We're trying hard to reach all those patients who would love to be cared for at home. But we need your help.

That's what our Home for Christmas Appeal is all about.

Your money could go towards the cost of specialist care in a patient's home. Or help pay for a nursing shift, bringing respite to a carer and their patient. Or perhaps help us increase our range of psychological therapies. Rest assured; your money will go where it's needed most.

Will you help loved ones stay together longer?

All our community care is provided completely free of charge, and most of the funding comes from our amazing community of supporters like yourself. That's why a gift today would mean so much.

This Christmas, while you are celebrating with loved ones, wouldn't it be wonderful to know a local family was doing the same because of you?

Our best wishes to you and those you love and remember, at this special time of year.

Karin

Will you help more families spend precious time together this Christmas?

For many of our patients, being cared for at home is their final wish. The warmth, love and sense of security they feel is truly immeasurable. And spending Christmas at home surrounded by loved ones makes this time much more precious.

Some local community services are under immense pressure. A gift to our Home for Christmas Appeal ensures we can deliver our services to help more local patients, providing the support, comfort and dignity they deserve at the end of life.

"Thanks to St Peter's Hospice, Tim was able to fulfil his promise of being at home for Christmas." Although in very poor health, Tim was determined to stay at home for Christmas with his wife, Gillian, and their young children. Tim's story
