How much does the average house clearance cost?

We cost each house clearance individually as no two clearances are the same. The size of the property and the contents will vary, as will the service you require from us.

Smaller clearances can cost from as little as £60-£200. An average price for a clearance is £350-£850. We base our quotes on:

  • how much resource we need to put in to doing the clearance, such as the number of staff, vehicles and time
  • the location of the property and access
  • the size of the clearance and any additional services required
  • what we can sell through our Furniture & Home store
  • how much we will need to recycle and dispose of

Why isn't our house clearance service free?

St Peter's Hospice is a charity and the fee we charge for our house clearance service covers our costs and helps support our patients and their families.

However, if you have six items or less to clear, we offer a free furniture collection service.

Which areas in and around Bristol do we cover?

We operate our house clearance service in all areas in and around Bristol. We cover the entire area from Thornbury to Weston, and as far east as Chipping Sodbury and Keynsham. However, if you live outside of this area, please do get in touch as we may be able to go further to accommodate you.

Do you need to be there on the day of the house clearance?

On the day of the house clearance, you don't necessarily need to be at the property yourself. Our team is happy to do whatever is most convenient for you. We can collect keys via a key safe, a neighbour or an estate agent if you prefer.

Why use us as your charity house clearance provider?

Our team are all employed directly by St Peter's Hospice and have years of experience of dealing sensitively and professionally with house clearances. We have a waste licence, as well as public liability insurance. By using us as a charity for your house clearance, your fee and funds raised from the sale of goods will help support our patients and their families across the Bristol area.

What items do we take and not take?

We can clear all items from a house and outbuildings with the exception of confidential paperwork and IT equipment with personal details, and any hazardous chemicals normally found in a garage or shed.

Where do we sell your items after we have collected them?

Items from the clearance are sorted and then sold through our furniture shops in Clifton, Brislington and Horfield, our high street shops or eBay shop, generating income for St Peter's Hospice. By using this service, you will be helping to fund our important work - thank you so much.

What our customers say

"You were very helpful when you came to quote for me and the two men that came were absolutely brilliant. I can't believe how quick they were loading the van. Excellent service."

"Not only did they complete the clearance in an extraordinarily quick time but they also then cleaned the whole property leaving it ready for our buyer after completion of the sale. In terms of value for money, we would say St Peter's will be hard to beat. Another quotation that we had was not only slightly more expensive but was not a total clearance – the garage was not included."

"I was extremely happy with every aspect of the service. You were very efficient and kind, the chaps did a super job and worked so hard in not the easiest of properties."

"The guys were great, very respectful, took every precaution and left the flat very clean and tidy. It has taken a big weight off our minds and we are so grateful."

"You've done a brilliant job here and I couldn't be more impressed! Thank you so much for all your efforts today and for providing such an efficient and sympathetic service. It's been difficult and sad for me, but you and St Peter's have made it so much more bearable :)"
