Whiteladies Road Flagship Shop

You might have heard that we're opening a brand new flagship shop on Whiteladies Road soon and we're looking for people to join our volunteer team.

There are all sorts of opportunities for volunteers on the shop floor and in the stock room. Whether it's creating window displays or sorting through donated items, we'd love to have you on board.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, then please complete the form below or drop into our Blackboy Hill shop at 154 Whiteladies Road to find out more.

"It’s just so rewarding helping out in the shop. I feel I give so little time, but get so much back in return. The team here are really fun and the time flies, it’s like being part of a big family, which is incredible." Barbara volunteers at our City Centre shop

What sort of work will I be doing?

Our charity shop volunteers can get involved in all aspects of running a busy shop. We'd love your help with some or all the following:

  • Providing excellent customer service including using tills
  • Sorting, processing and steam cleaning stock as it arrives from our customers or warehouse
  • Arranging imaginative and attractive merchandising and window displays
  • Cleaning surfaces and ensuring a safe physical environment for you, our customers and staff

What hours can I work?

We welcome any amount of time you can give us. Some volunteers work a couple of hours a week, others come in for 2 or 3 days. We can work with you on what time you can spare and fit volunteering around your existing commitments.

What skills will I gain?

You'll be able to gain useful experience and transferable skills in retail and customer service. This looks great on CVs and UCAS forms.

What training will I be given?

We provide full training and support is always available. We pride ourselves on looking after our volunteers.

What other benefits are there?

Volunteering is good for you. Evidence shows it's great for your mental and physical health! You'll make new friends and meet lots of new people from around Bristol, gain confidence and self-esteem. You'll also be contributing to the 'circular economy', cutting down on landfill and encouraging Bristol to recycle.

Can it lead to a career with the Hospice?

Some of our volunteers have gained employment as a paid member of staff within our charity shops or with another employer because of the experience they've gained.

"I would recommend volunteering to anyone. I've gained self confidence and feel part of a team. Everyone's so kind, caring and considerate." Richard, Totterdown shop
