Jon Pittard

1960 - 2026

Thank you for joining us in celebrating the life of Jon.

Jon was a fantastic man who has touched the lives of so many but first and foremost, he was a truly wonderful husband, father and son. He will be dearly missed by his family who love him.

Jon was known as a friend by so many thanks to his wonderful character. He was a man who was generous with his time and his talents. The amount of time he gave to getting to know people was remarkable. He could befriend and talk to anybody about pretty much anything and he had a knack for finding a shared interest with so many people. An excellent engineer with an eye for fixing just about anything, Jon was always happy to help out where he could. Whether he knew you well or had met you very briefly, if you needed help, Jon would be there to fix it, or as he would put it, 'give it a coat of looking at.'

Jon was able to keep seeing the lighter side of life right until the end, keeping the staff at St Peter's Hospice entertained throughout his stay. Jon loved to laugh - being a huge fan of british comedy institutions gave him a suitable quote for most situations he found himself in. His sharp sense of humour and cheeky nature will be missed by many.

Jon was diagnosed with Kidney cancer in 2001, going through successful treatment but sadly, it returned in 2020. He has been living with cancer since then and never did he allow it to stop him from being the man he always was - caring, compassionate and generous - A source of joy in many people's lives.

Jon had expressed a wish to spend his final days at St Peter's Hospice and he was looked after with such kind and considerate care by all the wonderful staff. He would be very happy to know that donations in his memory, are to be made to St Peter's Hospice. His family will forever be grateful to those who looked after him so well.
