Don was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2007 and did well until May of 2011 when he had a perforated oesophagus. He then had to be fed by a JEJ tube for 2 years until his death. This was particularly cruel for him because he loved food and cooking as he could not eat anything.
Aina was very good to me when I started at the Environment Agency as a PA, always happy to help, listen... being supportive. She was such a character, very up-front, very colourful and with a wicked sense of humour. Aina was a friend and she will be missed very much.rnrnAll my thoughts are with her family in this difficult time.
What an amazing person to know, thoughts of laughter and your smile. Our chats about happy times with always stay with me.
Aina was a very much loved colleague and friend to so many of us here at the Environment Agency. We will all remember her zest for life, also her compassion and caring for those around her. She was always there to share a burden, to listen and to give advice if needed. Aina loved music, reading, walking and being with her friends. She was probably at her happiest combining all of these things at once if she could! Her spirit burned bright and will continue to do so for all of us who will remember and miss her for a very long time to come.
