Our Pride campaign will be returning to shops from 23 June to 13 July 2025.
This year, we're focussing on the importance of community. We know that Pride is a chance for self expression and it's also a time when communities come together in solidarity.
We believe in providing end of life care for all, for free, forever. Our care is inclusive - we care for people from all backgrounds and we consider their culture, preferences and life experience when supporting patients and their families. We want everyone to have an experience that is as comfortable as possible, where their needs are recognised and respected.
The Pride season is a special and important time, where our shops across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire decorate their windows. If you're getting ready for Pride this year, why not head to your local St Peter's Hospice shop? Our shop windows are a celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and creative expression, but our support doesn't stop there.
Our support of the LGBTQ+ community continues beyond just the Pride season - inclusion is part of who we are.
As part of our new five-year strategy, we are putting communities at the heart of our work. We will continue to build a diverse workforce and aim to ensure that the people accessing our services reflects our local community demographics.
Working closely with marginalised communities is also key to helping us to continue improving and innovating our services. Through listening and learning, we can better understand the communities we serve and shape our services with their needs in mind.
We are excited to have a stall in the Community Tent at this year's Bristol Pride on 12 July. Our presence there will help to increase our visibility within the LGBTQ+ community, continue to build connections with local LGBTQ+ people and increase awareness of the services we offer year-round, to patients from all backgrounds.
We have developed an ED&I (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) strategy which considers how we can continue to measure and improve the diversity of our employees and patients, to ensure we are supporting as many people as possible.
This includes reviewing our approach to recruitment and training, launching an inclusive language guide, and ensuring we listen to the lived experience of patients and develop our services based on that feedback.
David Marten, Head of people, added: "Being a part of Bristol Pride is a fantastic opportunity for us to connect with the LGBTQ+ community, raise awareness about our inclusive end-of-life care services, and demonstrate our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Our presence at Pride supports our five-year strategy to put communities at the heart of our work, ensuring that our services reflect the diverse demographics of our local area. We want to work with all our communities to build a future where everyone feels recognised, supported, and celebrated, not just during Pride, but every day."
