The Routes

Choose from one of our suggested routes from previous Tours that span 40k, 65k or 100k. Or, create your own route that covers the kilometres in your local area or explore somewhere brand new.

40km route

Easter Compton

Distance: 40km/24 miles

Elevation: ~378m ascent, ~378m descent

Route: This lovely route starts out on a cycle track and winds its way through Bradley Stoke out into the South Gloucestershire countryside.

Following quiet country roads it passes through Frogland Cross and Woodhouse Down before dropping down into Tockington and a loop of the flat fertile farmland of South Gloucesterhsire through Easter Compton then back up a small climb to return via the same route.

65km route

Wye Valley

Distance: 65km/42 miles

Elevation: ~888m ascent, ~888m descent

Route: Start out on a cycle track that winds its way through Bradley Stoke out into the South Gloucestershire countryside.

Following quiet roads riders will pass through some lovely villages before dropping down in to Tockington. Here the route heads towards the old Severn Crossing Bridge, across the magnificent bridge and up past Chepstow, before climbing up the West side of the Wye Valley on beautifully scenic roads, passing through the villages of Itton, Devauden and Trelleck.

The ride will then take you back through St Arvans, Chepstow and back over the Severn Bridge to follow the same roads back again.

100km route

Wye Valley

Distance: 100km/62 miles

Elevation: ~1684m ascent, ~1684m descent

Route: The most challenging of the routes, start out on a cycle track that winds its way through Bradley Stoke out into the South Gloucestershire countryside.

Following quiet roads riders will pass through some lovely villages before dropping down in to Tockington. Here the route heads towards the old Severn Crossing Bridge, across the magnificent bridge and up past Chepstow, before climbing up the West side of the Wye Valley on beautifully scenic roads, passing through the villages of Itton, Devauden and Trelleck.

The route carries on further into the Wye Valley area reaching as far as Monmouth. It then heads back through the Valley itself heading all the way south passing through Redbrook, Brockweir and the amazing Tintern, past the Abbey ruins and back towards the bridge to return home via the same route back.

Please do not go onto the UWE campus, as visitors are currently strictly restricted.

Cheddar

Distance: 100km/62 miles

Elevation: ~1514m ascent, ~1514m descent

Route: Starting at Ashton Court, circle North Bristol to Portishead and follow the coast down to Clevedon. Head into the Mendips, through the small village of Wrington and through Burrington Combe into the beautiful town of Cheddar. Cycle the magnificent Cheddar Gorge with towering cliffs on either side, then pass alongside Blagdon Lake before returning into Bristol.
