The Midnight Walk Your Way

The Event

What days is the challenge running on?

The Walk Your Way challenge will start on Saturday 3rd October until Saturday 10th October, so you can choose the best date (and with the best weather forecast!) for you from that week. Or, if you’d prefer to walk another date that’s absolutely fine too.

What time should I start the walk?

Rather than walking through the night by yourself, this year we are challenging you to start your walk at sunrise or finish it at sunset so that you’re still seeing your local area in a different light. In October, this will roughly be at 7am and 6.30pm – but if you’d rather walk at another time of day that’s completely up to you!

What’s in the event pack?

Before the event week, we’ll post you this year’s Walk Your Way t-shirt, some glitter, and a new finishline prize too!

What do I do after I’ve completed the walk?

Take a triumphant selfie at the finishline and make sure to share it on our Facebook event page, we’d love to see your photos from the walk! Send us a message to let us know how it went, and update your JustGiving page to let your supporters know that you’ve completed the challenge. Keep your t-shirt as a momento of the walk and use your finishing prize with pride.

I signed up before the event was changed, can I get a refund?

We would love to see as many people as possible taking part in the Walk Your Way challenge across Bristol and beyond! While our normal fundraising activities are on hold, the funds raised from the challenge will make such a difference. However if you’re not able to walk with us this year, you can also defer to 2021’s event, or if you’d prefer to cancel we can either refund your entry fee or change it to a donation.

Get in touch with us on to let us know what you’d like to do.

What is the minimum age?

There is no minimum age for taking part in this event, but all under 18’s must be accompanied by a participating adult who is responsible for their safety.

Can men take part too?

Yes absolutely! This challenge is open for everyone to take part in.

Can I walk with my dog?

Of course! This challenge is for you to complete in any way that you’d like, so you can choose a route that you can bring your four legged friend along with you for.

Can I walk with other people?

You are more than welcome to walk with friends, family and colleagues as long as you are following all local guidance on how many people and households can meet to exercise outdoors. Make sure to keep a distance of at least 2m between yourself and anyone outside of your household, and check the government website for updated guidance.

Is there a minimum amount I need to raise?

We have not set a minimum sponsorship amount that you need to raise, but we would encourage everybody to raise as much as possible, because every penny counts – now more than ever. Your entry fee will help us cover the cost of organising the event, so it is vitally important that you raise sponsorship money on top of your entry fee. We would love for each participant to aim to raise £100, which would make such a difference to the local community.

What will the money I raise go towards?

St Peter's Hospice is Bristol’s only adult hospice, and are there to support patients and families across the Greater Bristol area from Chew Valley to Keynsham, Fishponds to Portishead. All our services are free and for most of this we are reliant on our wonderful supporters fundraising and giving donations at our events, in our shops and in wills. £27.50 would pay for an hour of a nurse’s time to support patients in their homes or in the Hospice when they need it most.

During the past few months, our normal fundraising activities have been on hold and our shops have been closed. We’ve had a huge hit to our funding, and so every pound raised means more now than ever.

What will my entry fee go towards?

Your entry fee helps us cover the cost of putting on the event including the t-shirts, so that all donations and sponsorship money raised can go to helping patients and families in Bristol.

How can I get the money I’ve raised to you?

There are lots of ways that you can get your wonderful sponsorship money into us. If you’ve fundraised through an online giving page like JustGiving then it will come to us automatically without you having to do anything at all!

You can also pay it straight to us through our website and let us know that it’s your sponsorship money, or you can also send us a cheque to the Long Ashton office. Please don’t bring in donations in person at the moment.

How do I set up a JustGiving page?

JustGiving pages are a great and easy way to spread the message about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it! Create your page, personalise it and post it onto your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, email signature and anywhere else you fancy to spread the word. You can also set up a team on JustGiving.

Where can I get a sponsorship form?

Download your sponsorship form here, or get in touch if you would like one to be sent in the post to you.
