Do you have conversations with people experiencing change or loss due to illness? These situations can be challenging. If you have ever found it difficult to know what to say, feeling prepared and confident can make a real difference when discussing sensitive issues.
This one-day communication skills course provides an opportunity for anyone working in health and social care in a non-clinical role (for example receptionists and non-clinical managers) to develop their knowledge, confidence and skills in this area.
- Recognising potential sources of distress in people experiencing loss and change and how that impacts on individuals and their families.
- Exploring how professionals can respond in ways that may be helpful or unhelpful to people in distress.
- Identifying communication strategies and skills that can support people experiencing strong emotions.
- Developing personal knowledge and skills to enable you to feel more confident when handling difficult and challenging conversations.
