Fundraising Stories

Michael is one of our fantastic supporters joining us for the National Three Peaks Challenge. He'll be walking in memory of his sister, Laura.

"On the 21st March 2021 my sister lost her battle with cancer at just 55 years old. She spent her final weeks in the Hospice. The care she and our family received was amazing. The doctors and nurses made sure that Laura was not in pain and they were incredible with us as a family. One of Laura's wishes was not to be alone at the end of her life, the staff made sure that one of us was able to stay with her at all times.

"Laura really wanted to do a sponsored walk for the Hospice but unfortunately she became so unwell that she wasn't able. She was so happy when I said that I would do something in her place. I saw the Three Peaks Challenge and thought to myself this would be a great opportunity. When I told Laura she was over the moon and so pleased.

"St Peter's Hospice is an incredible charity and their holistic and inclusive approach was amazing, without them supporting us every step of the way I don't know how we would have coped. I have so much gratitude for every staff member, no matter their role they went above and beyond in every way."
