Our Mission Statement and Philosophy

‘It is the aim of the Volunteer Resources Department to provide a committed team of volunteers to work alongside the paid staff at St Peter’s Hospice, bringing another dimension to and enhancing the service provided by the organisation.’

The Hospice exists as a result of the local community in the Bristol area wishing to extend the care offered to those with life-limiting illness and their families. As a local charity, we rely on the good will of members of the community for financial and voluntary support.

It is the philosophy of St Peter’s to enhance the service given by the paid staff utilising the individual skills of volunteers to support the work of the Hospice. We regard volunteers as an essential part of the Hospice team and, as such, they have opportunities for training, development and emotional support.

The Volunteer Resources Department aims to place each volunteer in a role that suits their time availability, skills and personality.

The Hospice is indebted to the volunteers for their time and commitment and their contribution is recognised as being critical to the provision of a high quality, cost effective service.
