ST PETER’S HOSPICE, BRISTOL

STAFF-GRADE post IN PALLIATIVE MEDICINE

(Fixed-term post for up to 10 months)

Applications are invited for a full-time Staff-Grade post at St. Peter’s Hospice for a period of up to 10 months from October 2007.

St. Peter’s Hospice is a well established organisation that operates on two sites in the city.  A multidisciplinary team provides care for patients in the community, within day hospice, and at both in-patient units.   The successful candidate will be mainly based at the hospice at Brentry, working on the in-patient unit and in Day Hospice, with support and supervision from Dr Clare Kendall, Consultant and Dr Carole Dacombe, Medical Director.

There is a well established education programme and the post holder will have opportunities to attend teaching sessions delivered by the senior medical staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, as well as being encouraged to attend local Journal Club meetings and wider study days.

Applicants should have post-registration experience in general medicine, care of the elderly and/or primary care and achievement/pursuit of post-graduate exams is desirable. An established interest in, and some experience of Palliative Care is expected and this post could then provide further experience prior to an application for specialist training, or for a general practitioner with a specific interest in the speciality.
