The Occupational Therapist will work with your patients, their family or carers, in looking at which areas are
difficult and what is most important for them to be able to achieve with
the energy they have.
This
can mean working out different ways to achieve tasks, either by: doing it
in a different way, using equipment or adaptations or perhaps choosing to
ask someone to assist them so they have energy for other things.
What can the Occupational Therapist do ?
Areas, which we may be able to help include:
- Helping patients and families or carers in planning and preparing for home following a stay on
the In-patient Unit
- Assisting patients in prioritising activities and conserving energy
- Seating and wheelchair advice and prescription
- Pressure care advice
- Assessment for equipment and minor adaptations in your home
- Referral and close liaison with Social Services departments
- Support and education for families and carers
