St Peter's Hospice offers complete care and support, completely free of charge, for patients and their families. Our professional care and support team are all specialists in their own field but are drawn together to provide an integrated holistic approach to caring for their patients needs. Initial referral by your GP or other professional involved in your care will result in our community nurse specialists visiting you in your own home and this can lead to working with other members of the team.
  • At Home - We have three teams of Community Nurse Specialists who visit patients in their own homes. They provide expert advice and support to the patients, families and primary health care teams
  • Day Hospice - Patients have the opportunity to spend one day a week at one of our two day Hospices, where as well as companionship and new interests, they benefit from the special attention of the medical and nursing staff.
  • In-Patient Units - patients can be admitted to one of our In-patient Units for a period so that difficult symptoms can be brought under control. Alternatively, they may be admitted for short periods to provide respite for the family caring at home. Patients also come into the unit for the last days of their illness, should this be what they, their family and their own doctor wish.
  • Hospice at Home - St Peter's also offers "Hospice at Home", when a short period of intensive home nursing is provided to enable patients to remain in their own homes for the last days of their lives.
  • Chaplain - offering spiritual support to all faiths and denominations
  • Social Work Team - St Peter's offers support from our team of four trained social workers experienced in bereavement counselling and support for the whole family including children
  • Physiotherapy - We have a qualified physiotherapist who can assist patients to maintain mobility and help in the care programme agreed with the other members of the team
  • Occupational Therapy - Our trained Occupational Therapist can assist patients in many ways to complete routine and other tasks that may become more challenging due to the illness
  • Lymphoedema Treatment - We are recognised as a local source of expertise in the treatment and provide training to other agencies
  • Complementary Therapists - Massage, Reflexology, Aromatherapy and acupuncture can be part of the holistic approach to treatment at St Peter's Hospice
