In-Patient Service We have two Hospice sites located in Brentry and Knowle. The two hospice inpatient units provide short term admissions for pain, symptom control, respite care or care at the end of life. Some patients may come in overnight to receive blood transfusions or simple procedures, others will stay for between 5 and 14 days, whilst their medication is adjusted to help them feel as well as possible, some for 7 days to give their family a break or 'respite'. Patients then return home and will only come back in if the need arises. Admissions are arranged most commonly by the Hospice Community Nurse or Day Hospice Nurse, who will discuss with the doctors and inpatient staff. Visiting Visiting time is normally 11.00 a.m. to 8.00 pm We try and meet any special or different visiting requests. We encourage a quiet “siesta” time from 1.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. to enable patients to relax after lunch. Pets may visit by arrangement.
