What is unique ....... ? Chaplaincy Philosophy A quote .............
What is unique about spiritual / pastoral care?
Spiritual / Pastoral care is concerned with establishing a relationship or relationships with the main purpose to offer support in a time of trouble and / or personal and spiritual growth. This is achieved through a deeper understanding of helping self, others and or / God. Pastoral Care will have at it's heart the affirmation of meaning and worth and will seek to strengthen the human ability to respond creatively to life's events.

Pastoral / Spiritual care is usually located within a community of faith either because of it's setting or because the carer is a representative of that community. However, the care offered and the carer seeks to be sensitive to the uniqueness of the spiritual journey  of each human being respecting individuality and the freedom to make choices.

Pastoral / Spiritual care enjoys the freedom to draw upon the resources of the community of faith such as in relevant holy text, rites, prayers and needs stated or perceived by the person receiving care.
