Chaplaincy

What is unique ....... ? Chaplaincy Philosophy A quote .............
The overall philosophy is that the Chaplaincy seeks to offer appropriate spiritual and religious care to all at St Peter's Hospice and will listen with total confidentiality.

All people have spiritual needs and some people have religious needs, the Chaplain seeks to minister to all as they desire. The Chaplain is a Christian minister and will minister to the religious needs of all Christians regardless of denomination,

or will assist in making the desired contacts on request. Should people of other faiths, or none, require assistance the Chaplain will offer them support or seek to enable them to find the resources they need.

The care offered is open support, which seeks to affirm people. The Chaplain is available to patients' families both during their time at St Peter's Hospice and as they seek to re-establish their lives in the wider community.

There is regular worship in the Hospice quiet rooms. The sacraments of the Church are available at any time in the In-Patient Unit and the Day Hospice.

The Chaplaincy contributes to the multi-disciplinary team with particular reference to matters spiritual, ethical and religious.

The Chaplaincy provides staff and volunteer support as appropriate and when required.
